2022-2023 Board Members

​President
Martha Wasserbauer MS, RD, CNSC
Martha received a Bachelor of Science in Biology (St. Lawrence University), a Master of Science in Nutrition Science (Syracuse University), and completed her dietetic internship at Cornell University. She began her career developing a pediatric nutrition program and providing nutrition counseling at Mountain View Pediatrics in Plattsburgh, NY. Martha then transitioned to clinical nutrition at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY, became a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, and currently provides nutrition care to patients on the cardiac ICU and step down units. She enjoys mentoring others about molecular nutrition, biochemistry and nutrition support. In her spare time you will find her hiking the Adirondack high peaks, downhill skiing, and knitting.
Secretary
Michelle Eckler MS, RDN, CDN
Michelle is currently employed as an acute care dietitian at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. On a daily basis, Michelle covers the Intensive Care Unit, Progressive Care/Cardiac Unit, and the Med-Surg/Oncology unit in addition to teaching weekly nutrition classes on the mental health floors. Michelle's current top nutrition interest is nutrition support as she would love to obtain her CNSC credential with the next few years. She obtained her bachelor's degree in dietetics from SUNY Oneonta and also completed their combined MS-DI program. In her free time, Michelle enjoys experimenting with new recipes, running (marathons included), hiking, and the outdoors in general. Michelle has been a member of HVAND since becoming a RDN (approximately two years) and looks forward to all the opportunities that come along with being an HVAND member. ​
Treasurer
Christina M. Carbone MS, RD, CDN
Christina is currently working as a Public Health Nutritionist with the NYS Department of Health, Bureau of Supplemental Food Programs. Prior to starting her current position, she practiced as a Clinical Dietitian in both Long Term Care and Rehabilitation facilities for six years. Christina received her undergraduate degree in Nutrition Science from Russell Sage College, in addition to her first Bachelor of Science degree from The State University of New York at Albany in Human Biology.  She completed her Dietetic Internship and Master’s Degree at the Sage Graduate Schools. Christina enjoys reading, reviewing recipes, dining outside, travelling and trying to grow plants on her balcony. As an active member of the Hudson Valley Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Christina has been acting as treasurer for 7 years. ​
Public Policy Chair
Ellie Wilson MS, RD, CDN 
Ellie Wilson is a registered dietitian-nutritionist and Manager of Lifestyle and Wellness Programs at Price Chopper/Market 32/Golub Corporation, located in Schenectady, NY. 
Ellie is passionate about the power of food to enhance wellness and works to connect shoppers to nutrition information and inspiration at every opportunity. Prior to this position, she spent 13 years as Senior Nutritionist for Price Chopper/Market 32. Ellie develops and manages nutrition data and food/health resources for the chain of 130 stores, supporting Pharmacy, Quality Assurance/Private Label, Public Relations, Human Resources and Sales/Marketing teams. She facilitates public-private partnerships, focusing on population health/business/nutrition linkages. Ellie is honored to be an appointee to the New York State Governor’s Council on Hunger and Food Policy. She is active with the New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic Association, (NYSAND), Food Marketing Institute workgroups, Topco Nutrition Member Advisory Council and Academy of Nutrition Foundation Retail Dietetics workgroup. She is also a food service rotation preceptor for the Troy, NY-based Sage Colleges Dietetic Internship, and finally, a long-time volunteer for the American Heart Association. Ellie lives in Schenectady, NY with her husband, Walter and their son, Don. 
Membership & Technology Chair
Lauren Coffey, RD 
Lauren completed her BS in Speech Language Pathology at Pennsylvania State University and returned to school to study Nutrition Sciences. After completing both her DPD coursework and Dietetic Internship at The Sage Colleges, Lauren worked as the Patient Experience Manager for Food and Nutrition Services with Morrison Healthcare at St. Peter's Hospital. More recently, she joined the clinical team at SPH and is focused on counseling cardiology patients as well as conducting group education sessions at the St. Peter's Addiction and Rehab Center in Guilderland. Lauren also represents the Nutrition Department as part of the St. Peter's Wellness Committee and is working towards becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator. In her free time, she enjoys baking with her daughters, gardening, and exploring the outdoors. 
Event Coordinator
Julie Coble, MS, RD
Julie recently completed her Master’s degree at Russell Sage College. She is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer. While completing her Master's Degree, she worked at St. Peter’s Hospital as a clinical dietitian. Julie has recently moved on to pursue other endeavors. She teaches group fitness and yoga classes at a local gym and is excited to join the board of HVAND. She is looking forward to becoming more involved in the planning and hosting of fun events for the Hudson Valley chapter of the Academy. 

Social Media Chair
Janna Neitzel MS, RDN, CDN
Janna is a dietitian at an integrative practice working with functional medicine. She specializes in gut health, food sensitivities, and eating disorders, while also using nutrition therapy for patients with cancer, Lyme and tick-borne illness, and many other conditions. She previously worked as a regional dietitian for AVI Foodsystems, overseeing and traveling to 13+ accounts, including colleges, insurance companies, and other well-known institutions. Janna obtained her BS from Rochester Institute of Technology, followed by an MS from Sage Graduate school. She completed her Dietetic Internship at Sage as well and developed many positive connections as a result, contributing to her career development. She has served as Social Media Chair for several years and enjoys being a part of the nutrition collaboration seeking to support local registered dietitians and dietetic students. Outside her work, she enjoys running, climbing, biking, and generally being outside.
